The Shadow of the Genessian Chapter 1

[SFX: Static-filled Radio Comm Crackle]

 

RO635 (via Comm): "Kira, do you copy? Sector 4 is clear, but the energy readings near your location are spiking. What’s the status on the balcony?"

 

Shigure Kira: "It’s peaceful for now, RO. Just the usual sunset view. Honestly, I was hoping for a bit more—"

 

[SFX: WHAM—CRACK-BOOM!!]

 

A massive weight slams onto the balcony from the clouds above. The concrete ripples and shatters. Dust billows as a terrifying silhouette rises. This is Marendar, a nightmare of fused metal and cosmic horror: the  head of Zovaras, the armored chest of Ultroid Zero, the limbs of Hyper Zetton, and the claws of Greeza.

 

[SFX: Metallic Shing!]

 

Kira spins on her heel, her twin pistols, Star Dance, already leveled at the monster’s head.

 

Shigure Kira: "Hey, you! Identify yourself! Are you one of the World Serpent goons?!"

 

Marendar’s head tilts with a sickening mechanical click. His chest core glows a dim, pulsing purple. He speaks, but the voice is a layered, multi-tonal rasp of the Genessian language.

 

Marendar: "Kiru... raga... zomei... tsu-ka!" (Translation: "The... light... must... perish!")

 

Shigure Kira: (Eyes widening) "Wait... Did I just heard that? What are you?!"

 

[SFX: SCREEEEEE-ROAR!!]

 

Marendar lets out a blood-curdling roar and swings his arm. A Flying Slash of dark energy erupts from his Zovaras' arm blade.

 

Shigure Kira: "Ahh!"

 

[SFX: Woosh—K-BOOM!]

 

Kira dives to the side, the slash shearing off the entire corner of the building. She rolls and fires a volley of stardust bullets.

 

[SFX: Pew-Pew-Pew! Ping-Ping!]

 

The bullets spark harmlessly off Marendar’s chest armor.

 

RO635 (via Comm): "Kira! I heard an explosion! What’s happening? Report!"

 

Shigure Kira: "A little busy, RO! I’ve got a hostile over—UGH!"

 

Marendar teleports in a blur of Greeza-like distortion. He appears inches from Kira and delivers a heavy, piston-like punch to her gut.

 

[SFX: CRUNCH!]

 

Shigure Kira: "GYAH!!"

 

The force sends her flying off the balcony. She hurtles downward, passing dozens of floors before crashing into the asphalt of the main plaza below.

 

[SFX: CRASH! Tinkle of breaking glass]

 

 

A crowd of civilians freezes. They look down at the idol-turned-warrior coughing in a crater, then look up.

[SFX: BOOM!]

Marendar sticks the landing, his Zetton legs cratering the street. The crowd stands in stunned silence for a split second before the monster raises its Greeza claws.

[SFX: WHIRRRR—BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!]

Fireballs erupt from Marendar’s palms, slamming into surrounding storefronts and transit lines.

Crowd: "MONSTER! RUN!!"
[SFX: Screaming, chaotic footsteps, sirens blaring]

Marendar ignores the buildings, turning his cold, predatory gaze toward a group of fleeing families. He raises his blade to strike them down.

Shigure Kira: (Staggering to her feet, blood trickling down her chin) "Hey... rust-bucket!"

Kira’s eyes glow with a fierce, frigid blue light. She spins her pistols, the barrels Frost-forming in the humid air.

Shigure Kira: "Leave them alone! Your stage ends here!"

[BATTLE CRY: "STARLIGHT... RESONANCE!!"]

Kira charges forward, weaving through the falling debris as she prepares to unleash her Ultimate.
